New Mexico Property Distribution Laws

In a New Mexico divorce, each party will retain any property acquired by him or her prior to marriage, any gifts or inheritances. All community property will be divided equally.

Similarly, quasi-community property (property acquired outside of the State which would be considered community property if it had been acquired within the State, will also be divided equally.
